Color Printing
Q Photo prints using a Noritsu 2721 printer, enhanced by a video analyzer which allows us to see the images on a roll of film before we print it. Our printer scans the negatives and uses the digital information to expose photographic paper, making archival chromogenic prints.
We can make color or density corrections, overriding the machine's computer, for the best effect. Q Photo makes machine prints by testing and printing until they are as good as we can get them. We have some cropping ability on the machine.
When an image requires special croping, or burning or dodging, a custom print is recommended. Using and Omega enlarger, Julien Havoc, our custom printer, makes every effort to give you what you want. For this reason, detailed instructions, or a sample showing crop lines and/or color is usually required.
We process 35mm, 120, and 220 speed film.
Black and White
Black and white film is developed to the time that we feel is best for each type and speed of film. If you have specific needs for contrast control or push/pull processing, check with our staff. We can usually do what you need. We process 35mm and 120 speed film.
Black and white film is printed optically. We test and print until your prints have optimum contrast and density.
We can also print black and white in sepia or on warm tone or cold tone paper on our color printer. Black and white film scanned to a CD will also be printed on our color printer in order to ensure consistent color.
Slide Processing
Q Photo runs slides all day, every day, Monday through Friday. We run control strips every morning and more often if nesessary. Monday is usually our heaviest day, so we encourage weekend shooters to get their film in early. We can push or pull E-6 in half stops ranging from -1 to +2.
35mm slide film can be sleeved or mounted in cardboard or plastic. 120 or 220 film is sleeved.
Kodachrome is sent out. We encourage purchase of mailers so the slides can be delivered to your home. Turnaround time is approximately seven working days.
Copies and Duplicates
Need reprints but can't find the negatives? We've got you covered. Q-Photo can create new negatives from your photographs. We can also create negatives or slides from artwork and transparencies. Just let us know what you want the end result to be and we'll help you determine the best way to get it done.
Copy negs can be made using 35 or 120 film, color or black & white. Slides are color 35mm. We can make internegs, but since we are able to print directly from slides we recommend this route for better quality.
Special Note: Thanks to developments in digital scanning technology we are able to make copies of 11 x 14 and smaller photographs without a negative. The cost is a bit higher, but so is the quality! See Digital Services for details.
